STUDENT NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
2007-2008 Student Council Members Elected
2007-2008 Peer Mentors Named
Student Council members dressed in costumes and hosted trick or treaters at the Summit Avenue building on Halloween.
Candy was donated by CVA faculty and staff. Monsters great and small arrived at the Mansion,
to be greeted by cat people, sheep, hippies, nerds, the occasional undead, a gnome, and a homeless intellectual.
"I was happy to see so many students dressed up. It made passing out candy a whole lot easier," one student said.
"I've never laughed so hard in my life, and that's saying something, because my digital imagery class is pretty funny, sometimes."
This marks the third year CVA students have entertained trick or treaters. The tradition began in 2005 when Amanda Jaeger,
'08, noticed children stopping by the building in costume on Halloween.
Amanda went to a nearby store and purchased candy to
pass out to visitors. Amanda is now a peer mentor and CVA Student Council President. Student participation and candy donations
have increased each year, and the student council looks forward to carrying the tradition forward each Halloween."
Field Trip, Aamodt's Apple Farm
On Saturday, October 6, the Student Council sponsored a bus to Aamodt's Apple Farm in Stillwater for half day of apple picking and sampling
the many tasty treats available at the farm. The weekend featured unseasonably warm weather and near-peak foliage, which provided a great
photo opportunity for the 27 students who participated in the event.
Arcade Games Introduced to Student Lounge
The student lounge now has dome hockey, foosball, trivia, video golf, and 48 classic arcade games, including Pacman and Galaga.
50% of the proceeds from the coin operated games will help fund CVA Student Council events. The lounge also has a variety of board games,
and other board games will be added. The student lounge is on the lower level of the Western Avenue building.
Bowling Nights Return to Midway Pro Bowl
Midway Pro Bow, 1556 University Avenue, offers two games for the price of one, with your CVA ID, on Wednesday and Thursday nights,
9 p.m. to 12 a.m. The price for two games is $3, and you can reserve a lane in advance by calling 651.646.1396.
CVA student news and announcements should be submitted in print form to Paul Gaines.
Please include a student contact with any submission.

Student Government at CVA augments the mission of the Office for Student Life by sponsoring and coordinating events, programs,
and open forum discussions for enrolled students. Student government creates leadership opportunities for all full-time students and
provides a venue for students to express their concerns on various matters through appropriate channels. Elections are held each
spring for a President, Secretary, Treasurer, Activities Coordinator, and a representative for the sophomore, junior, and senior classes.
A special election is held in the fall, so that first year Foundation students can elect a representative.

material originating from Japan, a subset of animation.

who founded the Anime Club during his time as a student, and served as its adviser while he taught painting and drawing classes at CVA.
