Alumna Jehra Patrick ’06 has been awarded one of the 2011 Jerome Emerging Artist Fellowships. Since 1981, the Jerome Foundation has generously funded this fellowship program to significantly advance emerging visual artists in Minnesota. The 2011-2012 Jerome Emerging Artists Exhibition is at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design from September 28 - November 6, 2012.
Artists considered for these fellowships may work in a variety of visual art media, including both traditional and new media. The program is aimed at visual artists who can present their work in a gallery context, and eligible applicants must be in the early stages of their careers and have not yet attained professional acknowledgement commensurate with the quality of their work.
An independent jury of three arts professionals competitively awards $10,000 grants to five artists. Fellowships may be used to purchase materials, cover the production costs of artwork, and supplement living or travel costs.
Jehra Patrick is an emerging visual artist who lives and works in Minneapolis, MN. She received her BFA from the College of Visual Arts in Drawing and Painting in 2006 and has since gone on to hold various positions in museum arts administration, and currently works as Program Assistant to mnartists.org, a joint project between the Walker Art Center and the McKnight Foundation.
