financial aid code of conduct

The employees of the Financial Aid Office at the College of Visual Arts maintain the utmost integrity in their inteactions with our community of students, parents, alumni, and colleagues.  While the financial aid office does not participate in Preferred Lender Arrangements, we agree to adhere to the following principles:

Agents of CVA will not enter into revenue-sharing arrangements with any lender. In addition, they will not accept any gifts from lenders, guarantors or servicers of such loans in an amount of $10 or more.  Lenders, guarantors, or their agents cannot provide consulting or contracting arrangements, nor can they provide staffing assistance for the College.  In addition, the College will not accept any funds to be used for the creation of a private loan program.

The Financial Aid Office will not direct borrowers to particular lenders or assign and first-time lender to a borrower without the student's consent.  No officer of CVA will refuse to certify or delay the certification of a loan because of the choice of lender (for lenders who are willing to make loans to students of the College).  No agent of the College will accept compensation for providing advisory board service for any lender, guarantor or servicer of loans.

Employees of the college who are involved in the awarding or disbursement of Title IV (federal) aid must agree to this Code of Conduct on an annual basis.  In addition, the employees of the Financial Aid Office are members of  the National Association of Student Financial Aid Adminstorators, and are bound by its Statement of Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct for Instuational Financial Aid Professionals.
