art in new york city

Immerse yourself in the art, culture, and life of the Big Apple when you bite into our summer program: Art in New York City. Examine the city and broaden your visual vocabulary through its abundant culture, achievements, art, and architecture. Visits to museums, galleries, libraries, and art and design studios provide a rich, sophisticated, two-week snapshot of this engaging global center of art and design.

CVA's summer Art in New York City program is a two-week class conducted in the heart of New York City. The program is offered as a three-credit elective in either Studio Arts or Liberal Arts and is taught by full-time CVA faculty. The class is designed to broaden your visual vocabulary and introduce the rich culture of New York City, the major U.S. center of art and design.

During your two weeks in New York, you are immersed in the culture of the city by visiting numerous world-renowned galleries, museums, and artist studios. Museum hopping includes the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the American Museum of Natural History, the International Center of Photography, the Whitney Museum of American Art, Cooper-Hewitt, the National Design Museum and the Guggenheim Museum to name a few.

The pace is quick, but there is still time to enjoy the world famous sites of New York City. Typically, there is an evening of Broadway entertainment, a peaceful cruise around the tip of Manhattan, a walk through Central Park, and a visit to the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building.
