Declaring fashion as your Interdisciplinary Design Studies (IDS) concentration presents the opportunity to participate in the Parsons Paris Mobility Program. You petition for entrance into the program during your sophomore year and, beginning your junior year, your training is truly hands-on.

At Parsons Paris, you learn the skills of draping muslin on the mannequin to achieve foundation pattern shapes and transform fashion illustrations into three-dimensional garments. Your year abroad prepares you for a senior year experience, at CVA, which culminates your interdisciplinary studies—an advanced pattern drafting and garment construction course that is coupled with a studio internship and the development of a professional portfolio.

Interdisciplinary Design Studies

IDS gives you the opportunity to explore and gain an expansive vocabulary within multiple disciplines. Its interdisciplinary focus offers a choice of concentration, differentiating this program from other majors by broadening the perspective from a discipline-specific study to one marked by both breadth and connection. IDS is an emerging discipline that recognizes the ever-evolving nature within the art and design community. Fashion design is our first area of concentration in interdisciplinary studies.
