Learn how to showcase your art and design through our Portfolio Building Workshop. Here, you are introduced to black-and-white drawing materials and observational drawing exercises, learning how to support the development of working drawings for an art and design admissions portfolio. Our admissions representatives are available to visit with you about admissions criteria and the process of submitting portfolios to art and design schools. This workshop is taught in two sessions. Stay for our optional free Essay Writing Workshop for the Visual Arts Student Workshop on Saturday, November 14. Fee: $55 for both Saturday sessions.

Learn how to develop a compelling essay by understanding how the elements of a Statement of Interest (thesis statement, topic sentences and supporting statements) work together. You will begin to organize ideas and energize prose, developing a complete outline and thorough draft that you will eventually revise into an effective Statement of Interest. This workshop covers the basics and answers your questions about completing this important component of your application. Free. Registration is required.

This one-day workshop provides the tips, tricks and techniques to digitally document your artwork like a pro. In our photo studio, you learn how to feature your work through photography. Training in our Mac Pro lab provides an understanding of basic photo-correcting techniques. At the end of the day, you leave with a disk that provides a digital inventory of 10 pieces of artwork and, most importantly, a working knowledge of how to document your work for a professional portfolio. Fee: $55 for the day.
