how to apply

Admissions decisions are individualized and take into account all aspects of the applicant's background. After your application is received, an admissions counselor will contact you about your remaining requirements and to schedule a visit.

If you are transferring from another college, please see the transfer section

1. Application

You initiate the admissions process by submitting a completed application form with a $40, nonrefundable application fee. A paper application form can be obtained from CVA’s Admissions Office or you may apply online.

2. Statement of Interest Essay

As a prospective student, you are required to submit a one- or two-page essay that describes what excites you about art and design, your goals and why attending CVA will help you achieve them. Please mail or email to admissions@cva.edu

3. Academic Transcripts

All applicants must present proof of high school graduation or its equivalent. A valid high school transcript—official and sealed—must be sent directly to the CVA Admissions Office.

4. Test Scores

An ACT or SAT score is required for all applicants unless otherwise notified by Admissions.

5. Portfolio Review

Your portfolio should include 12–20 examples of artwork. More information on the portfolio review

Contact the Admissions Office if you have any questions about the portfolio submission and review process.
